The Bulgarian Porphyria Centre is located at University Hospital "St. Ivan Rilski" in Sofia. The Center was established in 2016 by The Bulgarian Ministry of Health and National Center of Public Health and Analyses in accordance with the Bulgarian legal and regulatory requirements.
The work of Bulgarian Porphyria Centre includes:
• Pre-diagnostic counseling to potential carriers of porphyria 
• Pre-analytical counseling support to physicians
• Analytical diagnostics
• Diagnostic interpretation of laboratory tests results
• Treatment and follow-up of patient with porphyria
• Family studies
• Maintenance of National Registry for patients with porphyria
• Teaching in Medical University, Sofia
• Research, development and publications on porphyria
• Interaction with patients organisations
• Participation in International Porphyria Network
